Wildlife Watching at Dawn

Binoculars, a quiet hide, and the two hours when animals are actually active.

NatureSunrise

1 / 4

Wildlife is mostly a matter of timing. This session starts in the dark so that you are in position when the first animals begin moving, which is the only reliable way to see them.

What we look for

  • Birds active at first light, feeding and calling
  • Tracks and signs left overnight
  • Animals moving to or from water
  • A quiet stretch in a hide, letting the site come to you

Good to know

Binoculars and a spotting scope are provided. The pace is slow with long stationary periods, and the guide cancels in strong wind or heavy rain.

For participants

Arrive before dawn and expect to walk quietly for short stretches on uneven ground. Bring warm layers, as the first hours are the coldest part of the day. Keep voices low and stay behind the guide. Guests should not feed or approach any animal.
