Sour Beer & Wild Fermentation Tasting

Step into the tart, funky and wonderfully unpredictable side of brewing. This guided tasting explores sour beers and wild-fermented styles — from crisp, fruit-forward kettles to barnyard Brettanomyces and complex mixed-culture blends. Over roughly two hours, you will sample a curated flight while learning how time, microbes and patience shape every sip.

Your host walks the group through the basics: what makes a beer sour, how wild yeast differs from standard strains, and why a little controlled funk can be a very good thing. Expect honest conversation, small pours and plenty of surprises — no two batches taste exactly alike.

  • What's included: a guided flight of six to eight sour and wild beers, plus water and simple palate cleansers.
  • Who it's for: curious beginners, home brewers and seasoned sour fans alike.
  • Group size: small and social, capped to keep the tasting personal.
  • Good to know: flavours can be intense, acidic and unexpected — that is entirely the point.

Come with an open mind and a willingness to compare notes. Leave with a sharper palate and a new favourite style.

For participants

Book at least 48 hours ahead so the host can source the right bottles for the group size. Arrive on time; the tasting follows a set sequence and late entry disrupts the pour order. Bring a valid ID, a water bottle and a light snack if you prefer to pace yourself. Tell the host in advance about allergies, dietary restrictions or mobility needs so seating and pours can be adjusted.
